Questions:
Question:
Please advise if this chair has soft wheels. Our office has wooden floors and all our chairs need to have soft wheels
Answers:
-
The Office Fitness ball chairs have hard wheels so possibly they are no good for wooden floors
Question:
Does the ball have a slow deflate if punctured? Have heard some stories of eventually the ball going pop and dropping to the floow - but some balls have support which allows a slow deflate which is obviously safer. Could you confirm?
Answers:
-
The Office Fitness Balls are anti-burst quality which is strongly recommended for maximum safety. Staples, pins or large clawed pets may unexpectedly pierce your ball. Anti-Burst rated balls deflate slowly and safely when punctured, rather than bursting suddenly like a balloon with you landing on your back as occurs with non Anti-Burst balls. We offer only authentic, high quality Anti-Burst balls for your maximum safety and optimal comfort.

Question:
Once the ball is inflated, what is the typical sitting height (i.e. bum to floor distance)? Just wondering if this will be adequate for my office desk at home or whether my keyboard will be at eye-level instead!
Answers:
-
The standard ball chair is 23 inches seat height ( floor to top of ball). We also offer ball chair height adjusters ( sold separately) which add an additional 2" of height.
Question:
I know that ---------- University have these type of chairs in there sports department. As a sport therapist and acupuncturist I know the benefits of this type of chair and I have been advising these to staff. However I now want to have solid proof they work and do the job.
Answers:
-
Solid proof is a tricky question and I would shy away from giving an answer that suggests there is solid evidence. As far as I know no studies have been conducted specifically relating to ball chairs although several have been done on swiss balls.
All I can offer is anecdotal evidence based on customer feedback that it a) addresses long standing back issues ( even though we do not sell these as a curative measure) and b) it promotes enhanced core stability
We regularly attend national shows visited by physios, chiropractors and osteopaths and frequently they cite ball chairs and swiss balls as being more beneficial than £1000+ ergonomic chairs designed for back sufferers.
The principal advantages of our chair over the swiss ball is the smaller footprint, the fact that it's on wheels ( and so you can move more easily round your work area) and that is slightly more conventional looking ( although still pretty radical for many offices)
Question:
Can the ball be removed and used separately as a normal balance ball?
Answers:
-
Yes it definitely can be removed and used separately. You can just pull up on the ball to remove it. Then you just push it back on the chair to replace it. There is a retention bar on the chair in front which holds the ball in place but also allows you to pull the ball off and push the ball back on.
Question:
Are the Ball Chair Height Adjsuters included with ball chair?
Answers:
-
No, they are sold separately.
Question:
Does it come with the ball?
Answers:
-
Yes. It comes with a 48cm ball. It might seem too small when you first inflate it but that's because the ball needs to stretch and relax. Pump it up then let it sit over night and finish inflating it in the morning.
Question:
Can you give the rough height of the Adjustable ball chair - from base to the top of the ball?
Answers:
-
The height is 23 inches
Question:
"I to go to the same expo’s as a therapist and I know the benefits and I’ve been look at evidence not just in the UK. The general rule is back rest or no back rest. For me no back rest has far more benefits as you are “active” sitting the muscles in your back and abs are constantly adjusting to hold that perfect position. I tend to think that while a back rest is nice it does allow you to tilt and slouch thereby reducing the effectiveness of the ball chair. Your thoughts on this would be interesting as I like to get another few point."
Answers:
-
"In general we would say no backrest is best as that is closest to the underlying concept of needing to engage core stability muscles
The backrests are primarily there to provide relief, i,e leaning back for a few seconds rather than prolonged usage. As they are more conventional looking many firms go for these particularly as they are compliant with ergonomic requirements for adjustability. If the user is of reasonable health though, with no chronic back issues, I would say the no backrest model is fine in the majority of cases"

Price Quality Value Awesome Chair !!!!
Review by Kate Stevenson / (Posted on 21/12/2017)When I received the box I was super excited to put it together. Since I was eager I didn't wait for my husband to install it. I thought it was going to be hard for me but it wasn't. Maybe it took around 10 minutes. Everything you needed to start using this chair is in the box, including the pump for the ball. The ball chair has got locking wheels on the back. I feel that I sit straighter on this chair. Fast shipping, I received it within 2 days of purchase. Thank you and I would recommend to anyone looking for a ball chair! -
Price Quality Value What a revelation
Review by Alan / (Posted on 16/12/2017)I enjoy everything about this chair. I found it in the midst of a 5-week period of acute back pain.
Someone recommended a swiss ball to sit on as sitting was impossible with my problem being in the sacrum.
Sitting on the swiss ball changed my world and enabled me to carry on with my job. The only thing was its not the most practical of seats when trying to move around a busy office. I couldn't believe it when I came accross this. I'm on it everyday at work, the back support is great - I have mine right forward. It gets a lot of comments, people are so amused. I pumped too much air into it at first so it was too hard to sit on, after releasing some air though I couldn't be happier. -
Price Quality Value Comfortable for occassional use
Review by Mum of Three / (Posted on 08/12/2017)Good quality and just as described. -
Price Quality Value Good product but ball should be bigger
Review by Annonymoustoyou / (Posted on 18/11/2017)It was easy to put together, but I used my own swiss ball as the one provided was far too low. -
Price Quality Value Good for people with coccyx and lower back pain!
Review by MousieTongue's KM / (Posted on 09/11/2017)This chair is surprisingly comfortable, and has alleviated a great deal of my lower back pain and coccyx pain. It is easy to assemble, and reasonably sturdy. I've had a couple of physios recommend sitting on a Swiss ball instead of an office chair, but didn't find this a very practical option because a) my back still seemed to have a tendency to slump, even while sitting on the ball and b) the only way to move the ball is to roll it - in which case you have to stop sitting on it, or you'll roll off. With an office chair, you really want to just be able to push it whereever you want it to be. This design, having a back rest and casters, avoids those two problems, and I find it much better than a normal chair for sitting in
I'm giving it four stars rather than 5 because:
- the only way to adjust the seat height is to inflate the ball to a greater or lesser extent. I seem to be lucky in that the combined seat-ball height seems to be perfect for my desk / arm / leg length anyway, but I can see that if I were a different height (specifically, I am 5'2"), this might be a problem.
- the back rest is extremely difficult to adjust - very tight, and wants to spring back into place with great force. I needed my husband to hold it in place while I locked it, and even then we struggled. So, I really doubt that anyone could adjust the back rest while actually sitting on the chair. Which means that you just have to adjust and readjust by trial and error, and hope that you eventually get it right (I did in just three tries - hurrah!)
- I wonder how much of the benefit of sitting on a Swiss ball, in terms of toning your core muscles, is lost by having it on this stable platform? Yes, the chair is much more comfortable (at least, I find it to be so), but the reason physios recommend Swiss balls for sitting is that the instability means you have to work your core muscles. I'm not sure much core-toning is going on with this ball-chair, although they do make the claim in the product description. I don't know what kind of clinical evidence they have to back this up.
Despite the above, I still recommend this chair to anyone who finds it painful to sit in a normal office chair for extended periods - it is much more comfortable than any other chair I have tried (apart from a reclining stuffed easy chair, which isn't very practical for office work! :) )
