Does it wobble when you type?
It's very sturdy and does not wobble at all. The monitors may hardly move when going up/down but the desk itself is solid.
how close the keyboard tray is to the desk at it's lowest position?
The keyboard tray is about 1-1.5cm off the desk at it's lowest position. More detailed measurements you can find in this picture http://www.officefitness.co.uk/media/catalog/product/cache/1/thumbnail/800x800/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/d/e/desk_riser_2.jpg

Regarding the StandEasy DeskRiser LX, would that be suitable to use with a laptop? if the laptop is placed on the platform that is really for a monitor, would it then be too high? Or can it be adjusted so that you can have the monitor platform at a height to suit you?
It's ideal for a laptop but if you have a separate monitor that would work as well.
When sitting down I would recommend either taking the laptop off the stand to be flat on the desk or having a separate keyboard and keeping the laptop at platform level so that it's at eye line. This arrangement (separate keyboard) is probably the optimum for both sitting and standing
